2/3/2024 0 Comments Quadruple airbridgeWhen I'm at the Q2 screen that shows the Air Link button it does show my username and PC name below the big Air Link text. When the Air Bridge is not being used it has 0 network traffic. That is the bridge that allows LAN traffic and internet if your PC is cabled and is created automatically if you have more than 1 network connection available allowing internet for the Q2 In Air Bridge mode. The other way to see if the Air Bridge is working is to see if Microsoft created a Virtual Direct WiFi connection in the network adapter. A soon as I plug in the ethernet cable I have internet again. It shows network traffic over the Air Bridge and just to make sure I disconnected my ethernet cable and the traffic continues on the Air Bridge but of course no internet since I unplugged the cable. I am connected to the Air Bridge which is easily seen in the network tab of the task manager. But it's so easy, literally a 2-step process. I'll do a scan of the simple instructions included and maybe someone can do the same for the Meta version. If that were the case, I could certainly see the confusion. I ordered through D-Link directly so can't say anything about that. Maybe the Meta retail box has different instructions than the D-Link packaging. Everything needed seems to be baked into V44. After connection you can use the normal Air Link settings to change things like the bit rate slider. I don't know what Oculus Desktop app you're referring to, but it has nothing to do with this connection process other than the hidden negotiation process in the background that the user doesn't see. Once the adapter is selected it goes to the screen listing the PC (s) it found. At that point the D-Link device should show up in the connection devices. Make sure the oculus software is installed on the PC, plug in the Air Bridge, Click on the Air Link button on the Q2. The instructions are clear in the D-Link set up instructions. I tried to connect to it to see what happens and it connected for about 30 seconds and then disappeared. That can come later, but for those having Air Link issues due to WiFi problems this is probably a good choice.Īn odd choice, but not important, is that it broadcasts it SSID and you can see the device in the regular wireless setup. I haven't done any throughput testing or changed anything in the Oculus Debug Tool and just used all default settings except bump up the bitrate in the Oculus menu to max. I can't say it's better than good WiFi 6, it seems about the same to me over the short period of time I played. That means it maintains 2 wireless connections at the same time and it goes back and forth from AirLink to standalone seamlessly. I was still connected to my normal WiFi 6 which was used for standalone Q2 use. The graphics were as good as my WiFi 6 connection and no stutters or dropped frames. I turned the bit up rate to 200Mbps and played Red Matter 2 for 30 min. If you don't have the normal Oculus desktop app you have to install that first with V44 or higher. The setup was trivial, just plug the device (or the cradle) into your PC USB 3 port and go into Air Link and it recognizes the device, which you choose and that's pretty much it, assuming you already have Oculus software on your PC like I did. PCVR session with it and guess what? It works as advertised. OK, got the Air Bridge today and just did a short 45 min.
